Can rare-earth-free materials replace materials in all applications?

Zirconium exhibits different functions depending on the elements with which it is combined. HSY-0480 and HSY-0774, which are rare-earth-free materials, are characterized by high strength, high toughness, resistance to hydrothermal degradation, and translucency, and can be applied to uses such as Structural materials. However, they do not have the functions required for applications such as automotive catalyst, so they cannot replace materials in all applications.
