Yes. In an open differential, you can add LS Bell Hammer Gold (concentrate) to the differential oil. It forms a protective tribochemical film on the gear teeth, helping reduce gear whine, metal-to-metal contact, and wear.
Recommended usage
• Add 3–5% of the total gear oil volume
Example: if the diff holds 1.0L → add 30–50 ml
• After adding, drive gently for a short period to allow the film to form.
Important caution
This applies only to open or torsen-type diffs.
Do not use in clutch-type LSDs, where friction is required for proper locking. Adding a friction-reducing agent may cause weaker lock-up and changed handling.
Summary
• Open diff → OK (LS Bell Hammer Gold recommended)
• Clutch-type LSD → Not recommended
• Film formation will gradually smooth gear operation and may reduce noise.
